President Biden, seeking to fuel economic growth after the pandemic, had initially proposed about $4 trillion be spent on a broader range of infrastructure that included fighting climate change and providing care for children and the elderly.
Jen Psaki, White House press secretary, on Monday said that Biden is expected to talk to lawmakers as soon as Monday, she added that there are not many weeks left for negotiations before Democrats decide to move forward on a party-line vote.
President Joe Biden will continue discussions on U.S. infrastructure legislation this week, but the White House still has not agreed with lawmakers on how to pay for the bill.
