The UN Says Violence Against Civilians in Eastern DRC is reaching new heights

The UNHCR says Dozens of armed groups have been committing violence against civilians in eastern DRC for more than two decades, but the vicious attacks have driven more than one million Congolese from their homes in the provinces of North Kivu and Ituri this year alone, recording more than 1200 civilian deaths and 1100 rape cases, the refugee agency is calling for more effective measures to protect millions of civilians in the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo.
